Eglinton Maintenance & Storage Facility | P3-DBFOM

Toronto, Ontario

The Eglinton Maintenance and Storage Facility (EMSF) houses the storage of the Crosstown Light Rail Vehicles (LRVs). The EMSF also includes a vehicle service launch/ramp up and return used for cleaning, inspecting, and maintaining the vehicles. The facility will initially be home to 76 light rail vehicles in 3 configurations – singles, doubles or triple consists, with capacity to store 135 as service levels increase to meet future demand. The EMSF is fully signaled with UTO (unmanned train operation) functionality in most of the tracks, similarly to the Skytrain depots. The main building is built to LEED Silver certification, and includes high energy and water efficiency, green roofs, solar reflective paving, and vehicle charging stations for electric vehicles. The EMSF houses the Backup Operational Control Centre (BOCC), a scaled down version of the main OCC (Operational Control Centre) located at the Toronto Transit Commission (“TTC”) facilities. The EMSF contains two Traction Power Substations – one for MSF use, the other for the mainline, and the MSF houses and has the interface to the Power Storage Facility being constructed by the Contracting Authority.
