Inspiring Infrastructure for a Greener Transit Future
Arlington Regional Transit’s new state-of-the-art Operations and Maintenance Facility, a 130,000 SF complex that supports a fleet of 110 buses and advances the County’s long-term sustainability goals. Built on a redeveloped urban site, the project included a three-story administrative and maintenance facility and a four-story structured parking garage, all designed to support future electric fleet transition and achieve LEED Silver certification. The facility was designed with flexibility and resilience in mind, integrating high-performance façades, intuitive wayfinding, and employee-centric amenities such as wellness and quiet spaces. The facility includes seven service bays, a chassis wash bay, stormwater treatment systems, and one of the largest solar arrays in the County - 835 panels powering a cleaner future. This centralized operations hub supports 61 buses (including up to 47 EVs) and provides parking for both fleet and staff, blending functionality with forward-looking sustainability. Like the vision for Austin’s all-electric light rail network, this facility exemplifies how infrastructure investment can drive operational excellence, support community goals, and scale with growing mobility needs.
